Piano bar? The rest of the story.

State orders piano removed from Biscayne Bay

Now, this is really interesting

Anything can, and will happen in Miami.

Here's a mystery that gives a whole new meaning to the phrase ``piano bar.''
A grand piano recently appeared on a sandbar in Biscayne Bay, about 200 yards from the Quayside condominiums off Northeast 107th Street.

Where the Hell is Matt?

Sadly, we take our good friend Peter back to the airport today. Crew Istaboa has really enjoyed his company.
Pete, we hope for you a speedy and complete recovery... Until next time, Adios.

So now we are poring over weather prediction sites and wave heights in the Gulf Stream. We're starting to feel the itch to put some blue water under Istaboa.

Came across this little YouTube and thought some of you may not have seen it. It will make you smile.
Chances are you have viewed it; it has had over 34 million hits.
We apologize to our cruising buddies in the islands where internet bandwidth is slim to none. But, Hey!... You guys should be enjoying the island life and not surfing the net. So we don't feel too bad.
For you lucky souls out there anchored out from some remote little island, open a cold Kalik or Redstripe and let the video buffer up. It will make you smile even more.

Good Albury day...

The sun was out, the wind was light, and the St. Lucie was flat. Sounds like a perfect day to take out the Albury for lunch up in the Manatee Pocket.
Captain Spooner is in town and wanted to see the Hinckley Yard, so off we went. After tooling around and salivating over the Hinckleys, we motored over to lunch at Finz.
Yes Tracey, ... this time I had the Mussels and they were great.

After lunch the 3 of us buzzed over to Wahoo's for a quick beer before heading home.
Another good day amongst many. Pete had a great time.

Also an interesting video on page 2.

Very cool boat

First saw this in it's early stages of construction at a ship yard in Mobile Bay a few years ago. Guess they have finally finished it.

The livin's easy

Not a lot going here in Stuart... Took Mel into Ft. Lauderdale to meet a couple of old friends who have a layover in FLL. Flight Attendant reunion at Karen's.
I drove her down, then Will and I went to South Port Raw Bar for lunch. My favorite pup in Fort Lauderdale. Good pub-grub, great view.

When we got home one of the marina guys told me Radar had a package in the office... His new Raincoat had arrived.

He doesn't appear to care for it, but he probably will on the next cold and rainy day. We shall see.
As I said; not much going on here. But, this weekend is the Stuart Boat Show which may be interesting. Again, we shall see.

Still crazy after all these years...

Pam, Bernie, Mel, Radar (with our old Sadie in the background), and Charlie at the Garbonzo Reef Bar... May 07

Heard through the grapevine that our buddy Bernie was in town. Called and sure enough, he is. So we made plans to pick him up in the Albury the next day and find lunch somewhere.
It was a bit puffy, but we decided it was good enough. The Dolphin Bar was the destination.

Bernie and his wife Pam are friends we first met in the Abacos, we run across each other often and have visited them at their place in Teluride, Colorado. We always find a way to have fun. We're looking forward to hangin out with these guys while they're here in Stuart.
Brain Cells, be damned

Rainy daze and good eats

We could tell it was gonna be one of those days.... Started early with a sky full of dark ominous clouds, a brisk north wind chilled the balmy morning quickly, then booming thunder followed by rain. But, the forecast was for it to pass early in the day so we decided to go into Palm Beach to pick up a few parts then Carmine's Deli just for the fun of it.
Carmine's is a world class deli and gourmet grocery store. Cheese, Sausages, Oils, vinegars, fresh seafood, top shelf meats, fresh pasta, just baked breads, and I could go on for hours. Carmines is a culinary destination, not just a deli and grocery store.

When we arrived the parking lot was full, it was raining buckets, and we were soaked by the time we got in.
The place was fully jammed with patrons scurrying around with their little carts, groping produce, gawking at the pre-cooked gourmet ready to eats, staring in awe at the enormous cheese counter, and hypnotized by the deserts in the bakery. And with all that, oddly enough, we did not see many of them actually buying anything. We were able to check out, with only one cashier, without standing in line. Interesting.

Getting Istaboa back in shape

After a long stay in the Chesapeake and a very long run south down the ICW, we're slowly getting Istaboa back in 100 point condition or as close as we can anyway.

Spent the whole day in the engine room. Having a white engine room is very impressive unless you haven't had time to keep it white. Everything shows up. After today's scrubbing, it's all sparkling white again.

Tom Sawyer (yep, that's his real name) is returning the exterior to a new boat shine. Tom is known amongst Nordhavn owners, especially here in Stuart, as the best one can get to restore a boats finish.
He has lived up to his reputation.

That's what we boaters do... Clean them up, then go out and mess them up, so we can come back from somewhere and clean them up again... vicious cycle, huh?

Anyway... found this today.
It's from a slide show that's full of very interesting old photos of days gone by.

So long 2010

And good riddance... remember last year when we all said that about 2009?
Here's to a happier, healthier, and more prosperous 2011
We're hoping there are some islands in our future.
Saw this article this morning....  Dave Barry is a funny guy. Article here

We on Istaboa hope you all had a good holiday. We certainly did.
Big night at Sailor's Return with old friends from Compass Cay. It was a nice time.
