Still chillin

Been taking one of these everyday...

Crew Istaboa has caught a severe case of Islanditis.

But our friends Codi and Brad along with their friends, JD and Amber, have been livening things up. We had a big time last night and today Tucker and I took Brad and JD out exploring, as Tucker put it.
We didn't catch a fish or even get a strike... I think that's why Tuck said we were going, "exploring".
We took the Albury south through the Land and Sea Park, passing Johnny Depp's island, and over to White Bay, which belongs to Tyler Perry, first to check on a possible WIFI hotspot opportunity.

That island is just the first stages of construction.

I think we will run back down to the park tomorrow, to a place called the Aquarium, and do some snorkeling.
So that's it... not much going on but existence, which is enough here.

The weather has been better for a couple of days and we did get out to do some fishin, but as fishin usually goes, we came back with an empty fish box. Still had a good time.
Went down to Sampson Cay to purchase some gas for the Albury. The fuel boat hasn't been around the Exumas for a while and folks are rationing gas. Diesel is nowhere to be found, which is keeping boats at dock.

Sampson Cay Marina is a very pretty/well manicured marina with a general store and restaurant. More developed than Compass to say the least, but still a beautiful little island.

So after fueling we took off in hopes of fresh fish... Out through Sampson Cut the ocean was a little lumpy, but not bad.  With high expectations of fresh fish for dinner, we trolled and trolled... nada.

Just a pretty picture

Walk up the only road on Compass and turn right down a sandy path... this is what you see.

Nice colors.

The wind is still puffin pretty good, but not only does it hold the bugs at bay, it keeps things nice and cool. If you gotta wait out wind, this is fine place to do it.

Thinking about taking a walk with the camera later today. Maybe find something else to photograph.
We'll see.

Kickin back

Island style... Not much going on right now because the wind has picked up which keeps us leeward. Seas are predicted to remain rather large for a few more days and that'll keep us from doing any fishing.

But weather has never stopped us from having a large time... doing little.

Capt. Bruce who runs the charter sailboat "Bahama Star" was happy to see Crew Istaboa back in the islands. A large bear hug was given to everyone, even Radar. We've crossed paths with Bruce many times in the past and Capt. Bruce is always a trip. A mostly benign pirate, Bruce never fails to entertain his guests with salty tales of his times at sea. He's a great cook also... on this night we shared dinner with the crew... Deep fried Turkey with all the fixins.
His charter was, oddly enough, a group of kids from St. George's Independent School which is about 3 miles from our home on Rocky Point. They were a very nice/very polite group of young folks who were astounded when Bruce told them we were from Memphis and docked at Compass. They asked where we lived and a couple of the kids said they drove past our house everyday on their way to school. They all said they couldn't believe someone from Memphis had actually sailed their boat all the way here from Pickwick.
This was their graduation trip— they seemed to be having a huge time.

The next day we took Don and Sharon from Bold Pursuit and their grandsons to Staniel to fly the boys out. It was a bit rolly crossing Joe Cay Cut but the little Albury sliced through it nicely and we made it into Pipe Creek and on to Staniel Cay in smooth water.
