Meanwhile, we're sitting under a covered slip at AYB. 

We moved to a slip on the outside edge so our Sat Dish would pick up a TV signal. 

Mel wants her NFL.

We're supposed to be hauled tomorrow to have our bottom painted and the hull polished. And, whatever else we find when we pull her out.

We were worried about TS Karen, but that's not as big an issue as once predicted. Rain, on the other hand will slow down the work we want done.

Sounds like more time in a hotel to me. Maybe a vacation during our vacation.

We'll see.

Passed this old beauty as we were rounding Thimble Shoals and leaving the Chesapeake.

Surf On-The-Go... and Cheap!

Will Finlay, the lead wireless engineer for onSpot WiFi sent me this little device to try out.
Not a new device, it's been out for a couple of years, but it's a new version and new to me.
It's essentially a WiFi hotspot in a box... at $100.00 from Amazon, it's a hell of a deal.

Within 10 minutes of powering it up I had a signal out at the faraway covered docks of Atlantic Yacht Basin and was surfing. Very simple setup.
It's not as powerful as the Rogue Wave antenna that's mounted on my radar arch, but it's performing well at AYB where, if you're inside your boat, you can't get an internet signal with a laptop alone.

Not a bad little device when compared to a $500.00 Rogue Wave Antenna plus the installation costs.
I took it up to the fly bridge, plugged it in, and it works well.

Shared the anchorage with us.

The anchorage at Fishing Bay was pleasant and uneventful. It's a pretty little anchorage, but known to the locals as one with less than desirable holding. We had no wind so we had no problems.

The little marina next to the anchorage was quite a nice marina. Very quiet. We dropped the dink in and took the boys there for some dirt time.

Moving on, we stayed a short night at York River Yacht Basin, that's going through a major transition, then left for Portsmouth. Along the way the plan changed to passing Portsmouth and making way for Atlantic Yacht Basin.
Should have stuck to the original plan.

Boats on the Bay

Yesterday, we passed these folks. They're heading to Solomons and taking the slip we just left at Solomons Island Yacht Culb.

We've met them before at Old Port Cove in Palm Beach.
In passing they hailed us on the radio to tell us about their trip to Nova Scotia.
Shear Madness along with 4 other Nordhavns formed a flotilla and cruised the shores of New England and Nova Scotia.

Are late...

We were about to pull into Deltaville and Dozier's Marina as we always do when a fellow who'd been following us since we left Solomons called to let us know he was about to slowly overtake us to head to an anchorage. I asked where he was going and he said Fishers Bay.
So we followed him in... what a nice anchorage. Not too deep and comfortably wide so we dropped a hook. Actually there was a little more drama than that, but it was technical and all worked out well.

The sunset offered up a few photos and we've found, yet another, nice place to hang out on the Bay.

It was a memorable end to a relatively short run... who knows... we may stay for a couple of days.
I think we're feeling like dragging our feet... Not ready for the long slog down the waterway and home.
