Sweet Virginia

But a little more about Beaufort, NC.
We had a nice night in Beaufort. It's a beautiful town and they take their heritage seriously. Pirates are everywhere.

We tied up at the city docks where there are lots of shops and restaurants. Bands playing and the smell of fine food wafting across the harbor made for a very pleasant stay.

After a fun night, we woke early and made way for Belhaven, NC and Dowry Creek Marina.
Nice folks and a nice little marina; hidden up in the creek, it's very peaceful there.
We used the courtesy car and rode into town where they were having 4th of July festivities. A parade and fireworks were planned but we didn't stick around. All the restaurants in town were closed, but we did have a nice corn dog and bought some country fried pork cracklins... very good.
We left early the next morning and ran through some very shoaling waters to Coinjock Marina. Found out what Coinjock means... Land of the Mulberrys... although there are no Mulberrys? Coinjock is a nice and convenient little marina where we bought fuel at a very good price and spent the night. The restaurant is excellent. Soft shell Crabs!!
So now we are pushing to the end of the ICW and mile marker 0 where the Chesapeake Bay begins.

We have a few more pics from along the way that we will post later.

Adios,

Istaboa
