Fun in Fernandina and rekindled relationships

Fernandina... Front and Centre

Fernandina is a beautiful little town. The locals have done an excellent job restoring and maintaining the old place. It's worth your time to click this link and read the history. The only city in America to have flown 8 flags.

But even better than hanging out in this old seaport town was meeting this little guy.

Silas Rui Taylor
Our Grandson.

Very handsome lad.

The new Taylor Family
Mason, Lindsey, and Silas
We hung out Sunday to watch football, but we really watched Silas more. He appears to be a very kind and smart fellow. I think even Radar liked him and he dislikes most children. Especially little boys.
But soon Silas tired of being confined to a boat that was full of perils for a curious little boy and wanted a nap so the Taylor's left to return to Jax. It was a nice time.

So after their departure we walked around to check out the town off the main tourist street.

Cut from the official Fernandina website:
Welcome to a Community of Diversity, Culture and Beauty!
The City of Fernandina Beach is located on beautiful Amelia Island, in the northeast corner of Florida along the Atlantic Coast.

This is an old church that friends of Lindsay and Mason have restored and is now their home and office.
Mel got a tour and said the place was beautiful inside... and outside as you can see from the pic. Saved the old stain glass and the original structure. Very cool!

Last but certainly not least.... Tracy, who is Mel's nephew, (there is not much age difference and were raised more like brother and sister) has a beautiful home on Amelia Island. We haven't seen him in a few years and he took us to a great restaurant on our first night then came over Sunday night and we all walked to Arte Pizza. Excellent pizza.
It was really good seeing Tracy and his dog Porter.

So... all in all the last minute plans to stop off in Fernandina turned out quite well.
Old relationships rekindled and a new one begins.

Adios,

Istaboa
