I hit cruise control and rubbed my eyes
The last three days the rain was un-stoppable
It was always cold, no sunshine
Yeah runnin' down a dream
That never would come to me
Workin' on a mystery, goin' wherever it leads
Runnin' down a dream
By Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne and Mike Campbell
We've been running from marina to marina for the last few days. The weather has been very weird this year, (we've been saying that for a while now) and some pretty serious thunderstorms build up offshore and make for beautiful light shows, but ugly seas.
So... it's been the ICW for us.
Fort Pierce City Marina just before a storm
These bruised skies are pretty typical of what we've seen everyday and night.
That crossing was our first time to cross the Gulf in our own boat. We were a bit apprehensive.
We stayed at Fort Pierce for a couple of days and ran into Jeff and Cathy, old friends from Sunset Bay. It was fun catching up.
Then as we were pushing past Cape Canaveral someone called us on the radio. Again, old friends, Don and Sharon are some of our Compass Cay family. I got a nice pic of their boat, Siren's Song, as they passed.
Dinner at Titusville Marina was on their boat and again, it was fun catching up and hearing all the scuttlebutt about Compass.
This ICW run has been like old home week. It's fun to unexpectedly run across old friends and have time to hang out.
Daytona may be where we spend our 4th of July celebration. Halifax Harbor is a nice marina with good wifi so maybe I can get some work done. work done... doesn't sound right.
Cheers,
Istaboa
