Today's Pics

No, we're not back in Memphis... just been thinking about home and processed some pics. I may have put these up before.

If weather permits, we'll leave Thunderbolt tomorrow and head for somewhere in South Carolina.
Not a long trip. 30 to 40 miles, but we'll have to wait for a rising tide which will be after noon.
Guess we'll have to sleep in again.

Today's Pic

is it real or is it photoshop?
not mine so I don't know
interesting...

Today's Thought

With the current weather conditions, winging it seems to be the plan.
Another big thunderstorm with a flashy light show last night and more predicted for today.
Last evening, our cell phones made sounds we'd never heard before... It's an alert system that works via text; flash flood warning.
Wonder if this is new or we're just in an area that offers such a service?
That's one form of weather we're not too concerned about.

Thanks for checking in.

Cheers,

Today's Pic — Off The Stern

Thunderbolt Marina — Sunset

Today's Pic — Off The Bow

Sunrise over the Wilmington River at Thunderbolt Marina.
Thunderbolt, Georgia

Nice folks aboard the Krogen that's tied up in front of us, 'Santa Clara'. They've rented a car and kindly invited us to dinner yesterday evening. So, we drove over to the Crab Shack on Tybee Island.
An interesting place. Gator pond, Tropical Birds... interesting, and the food was good.
'Tis the season on the Georgia coast.
Today, we're taking another day off and waiting on packages from home. May take our friends up on a ride to the grocery store, we need stuff.
Life is good... simple.
Cheers,
Istaboa

ps... Happy Friday

Daytona 4th — belated

Today's Pic

And now from the Vast of the Lord will the waters of sleep Roll in on the souls of men, But who will reveal to our waking ken The forms that swim and the shapes that creep Under the waters of sleep? And I would I could know what swimmeth below when the tide comes in On the length and the breadth of the marvellous marshes of Glynn. - See more at: http://www.poets.org/viewmedia.php/prmMID/16813#sthash.5ZQsuIj2.dpuf

Back Track

To St. Augustine:

Mel preparing to tie up as we approach The Bridge of Lions

Normally, we don't do the tourist marinas...  but timing, tides, and water depths dictated we stay at St. Augustine's City Docks.

We'd heard the old Spanish sailing ship, 'El Galeon', was moored here. Article here.

At night, she lights up pretty in front of the old bridge.

It's a beautiful ship and she was crawling with folks, both young and old, who were delighted to see such a vessel.
It is a replica, but she's a really good one.

We planned to stay for a couple of days to take care of a few things, but circumstances forced us rise early the next day and run to Jacksonville Beach.

If you look close you can see the sliver of a moon between the masts. Took this shot at sunrise as we were leaving. (That's another story)

Googled 'El Galeon' and found this video... nicely done... skip the commercial

In just the short distance we've traveled, we've already seen some beautiful sights and we've taken many photos, but been busy. We'll post more soon.

I forgot how fun this cruising life can be.
Today we're in Savannah.

Thanks for checking in on us.

Cheers,

Today's Pics

So, here we are... St Simons Island, Georgia.
Mel's dad and I fished this creek many times.
I'll never forget the last fishing trip we took together; we caught too many Spot Tail Bass (Redfish) and they were all too large, totally over the legal limit. When I brought it to his attention, he kinda chuckled and said, "The hell with that! As many times as you and I have fished this river and got skunked, we're gonna make up for it now. I think they owe us."
And we did. Probably 25 and they were huge. We got away with it and shared them all.
Lots of memories...

Not sure what tomorrow brings until we wake up. Maybe stay or maybe go to Savannah.

Cheers,
